VCSTIMELESS, European software
solutions provider to the non-food and speciality
retail sector and Wincor Nixdorf, global store solutions
provider, announced that they have signed a worldwide
technology agreement. Under the terms of the 10
year renewable contract, VCSTIMELESS is to develop
a new store solution dedicated to large retail chains,
based on Wincor Nixdorf’s latest flagship
store solution, TP.net.
The new EPoS solution (currently
project-named Opera), a result of the alliance between
the leading
specialists, will be released for sale in the
first semester of 2006. Boasting extensive functionality
including customer services at point of
sale,
innovative technology (Microsoft .Net platform)
and an open architecture, (ability to interface
with existing head office systems), this robust
customer centric solution is to address large
retail chains operating in the speciality retail
market, including department stores, category
killers and superstores.
Following a comprehensive
study of many of the major European and American
store solutions addressing
large retail chains, VCSTIMELESS selected TP.net from Wincor
Nixdorf to complete its best in class
product portfolio. The new alliance expands upon
the companies’ existing relationship. Michel
Ramis, CEO for VCSTIMELESS commented, “Committed
to developing a store solution using the latest
technology to meet the needs of large retailers,
we chose TP.Net, a solution already developed
using Microsoft .net technology, recognised and
adopted by leading retailers world-wide. In order
to drive this project forward, we called on the
expertise of a store solutions specialist, Philippe
Leclercq*”.
“VCSTIMELESS approached
me with their project to introduce a new EPoS
software suite to the
market based on Microsoft .net architecture. Following
discussions, we decided to extend our 7 year partnership,” said
Philippe Dauphin, Managing Director for Wincor
Nixdorf S.A (France). “TP.net is already
well known in the food retailing market. Thanks
to the Opera project, we will also be able to
offer speciality and non-food retailers a solution
based on Wincor Nixdorf software, developed by
market specialist VCSTIMELESS. VCSTIMELESS will
benefit from Wincor Nixdorf’s broad set
of technology resources, expertise and international
experience, in particular software localisation
and fiscal regulations”.
This new agreement
reinforces VCSTIMELESS’ strategy
to become Europe’s leading retail
software solutions provider, offering best in class solutions
which
reply to the needs of a wide range of speciality
retailers, from medium to large retail accounts.
Part
of an unprecedented programme of innovation in
Europe, the Opera project is being developed
alongside the VCSTIMELESS Magellan project which
includes the development of a new head
office management solution which will also be available
for sale from 2006.
Michel Ramis, CEO for VCSTIMELESS
concludes, “The
collaboration between VCSTIMELESS and Wincor Nixdorf
on the Opera project will give rise to a completely
new innovative store solution available in 2006.
Capitalising on Wincor Nixdorf’s reputation
and experience and VCSTIMELESS’ expertise
within the speciality retail sector, VCSTIMELESS
will position itself as a leading European supplier
of EPoS solutions to large retail chains.”
The new solution will complement VCSTIMELESS’ existing
EPoS portfolio which already includes Colombus
Retail.
Philippe Leclercq is the former IT Project
Director for the Etam Group. Before joining Etam,
Philippe worked on the overhaul of several EPoS
solutions for numerous large European retailers
including Norauto.
